Dear Parents and Community Members,

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to address you as the new Elementary School Principal here at Grandview. For those of you who may not know me yet, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lori Howerton, and I have been fortunate enough to be a part of this wonderful school district for several years now, wearing many hats along the way. Some of you may recognize me as Mrs. Howerton, your child's 4th-grade math and science teacher, or perhaps as "Mrs. H" to the little ones who find "Howerton" a bit of a mouthful. And to those who have former preschoolers now in the middle school building, you may remember me as Ms. Lori.

My journey with Grandview began when my family and I moved to Missouri. After our son's first year in another district, seeking the best educational environment, we made the decision to enroll him here, and it's been one of the best decisions we've made. Gavin began second grade at Grandview, and shortly after, I started working here as well.

I am someone who believes deeply in hard work and loyalty. When I commit to something, whether it's a role as a teacher, special education educator, or district Curriculum and Instructional Coach, I give it my all. My dedication to this community and its children knows no bounds. I often say that while I have only one biological child, I consider all the students here as my own. The hugs I receive from them in the hallways each day remind me of the profound responsibility and joy that comes with being an educator. As I step into the role of principal, I want to assure you that this aspect of my relationship with the students will not change. Every child must know they are loved, supported, and expected to achieve their best.

My loyalty to Grandview runs deep, and I am committed to continuing to invest my time, energy, and passion into ensuring the best for our community. While I may not always make decisions that everyone agrees with, I want to emphasize that disagreement is natural and healthy. What's most important is our collective commitment to working together for the well-being and success of our children. Communication is the key element that will assist us in building a strong community that supports good, well rounded, confident kids.  Rest assured, every decision I make will be guided by what is in the best interest of our students.

I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to meet and collaborate with each and every one of you. Together, I am confident we can continue to make Grandview Elementary a place where every child thrives.

Warm regards,

Lori Howerton

Interim Elementary Principal
