There is no danger to students or staff but due to an issue with the transformer feeding the middle school building we will be forced to dismiss at 12:00 pm today.

As a precaution, middle school students and staff were evacuated to the elementary gym the fire department was called and is on the scene.

There was a night of meetings in Eagle Nation last night. Two of the main meetings were the Staff and Community Forums with MSBA concerning the search for our next superintendent. The results from the various forums will be presented at the October Board Meeting on the 16th.

10/6 Elementary Newsletter

Grandview was notified today that one of our students in the elementary school has tested positive for Pertussis (whooping cough). This is a respiratory bacterial infection that requires treatment with antibiotics. Pertussis spreads through respiratory droplets released when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Parents should watch for a cold-like start with a runny nose and low grade fever which may progress to more severe symptoms, for prolonged coughing fits that may cause gagging, vomiting, or a distinctive "whooping" sound, especially in older children, and can lead to blue or red lips, difficulty breathing, or pauses in breathing, particularly in infants. Get tested for pertussis if your child has been exposed to someone with whooping cough and is displaying cold-like symptoms or if a cough lasts for more than 7-14 days. If your child tests positive, please notify the school nurse immediately.

The Grandview R-II School District has joined a lawsuit alongside other school districts, fire protection districts, and taxpayers to challenge the constitutionality of Section 137.1055, RSMo, enacted through Senate Bill 3. The new law introduces inconsistent property tax credit provisions that vary by county, creating uncertainty for schools and essential public services across Missouri.

For decades, Missouri’s public schools have depended on stable local property tax revenue to educate students, maintain facilities, and meet their obligations to the community. By dividing counties into different categories with tax freezes, caps, or no limits at all, the law introduces arbitrary and unfair disparities. These inconsistencies undermine schools’ ability to budget responsibly and jeopardize the constitutional promise of equal treatment under the law.

Section 137.1055 establishes unconstitutional classifications, forcing taxpayers who live in the same school district but different counties to be treated differently. The new system creates inequities within a single school community. The law also destabilizes revenue streams not only for schools but also for fire protection districts, libraries, and ambulance services that depend on fair and predictable local funding.

By participating in this lawsuit, Grandview R-II is protecting the local resources that families, students, and local taxpayers count on.

Great news from Mr. Bilin. The Granview Eagle Pride Band took first place today at the Farmington Invitational. We also won the caption awards for Outstanding Auxiliary, Outstanding Percussion, Outstanding Music, and Outstanding Visuals. Awesome job! Way to represent Eagle Nation.
